Who are Thwaites?
It is over two centuries since Daniel Thwaites set out from the Lake District to make a new life for himself away from the family farm.
Daniel built up his brewery with an eye for quality and a generous blend of innovation, craftsmanship and warm hospitality. Who would have believed, six generations later, that his family would be continuing the adventure, still striving for brewing perfection, and now with a growing collection of pubs, inns, hotels and spas.
After 211 years at their Blackburn town centre site a new chapter has begun for Thwaites Brewery with a huge move to a new site just on the outskirts of Blackburn in Mellor Brook. This £8million investment from the company will see the move of the brewery, stables and head office to the foot of the Ribble Valley bringing together the whole Thwaites team to work together on the same site.
The purpose built brewery will have the capacity to brew 1.5m pints a year. Initially Thwaites’ five brewers will be brewing Thwaites Best Cask (TBC), Nutty Black and the seasonal range that changes every week. That will expand as the year goes on to also include Thwaites Original and a new core range of beers that is currently in development.
With this great build came the need for lots of new signage around the site, with feature pieces of neon on the front and rear elevations of the building.
